Marc and I got into a evo/creationsim style arguement (discussion, if you will) on the technical weights of the 'shit-ton' and the 'butt-ton'. Here was my reply. Enjoy
*************************
When differentiating between the veritable shit-ton versus the butt-ton, one must consider the proverbial weights of either defining trait.
When considering the shit-ton, one must imagine the density of said shit-ton, hereby to be referred to as the st, as well as the rate of discomposure. Also to be evaluated, in addition to the aforementioned, would be the rate of possible addition to the assumed generic weight of the st, conjointly with the proposed mass of the additions. When hypothesizing all these factors, it is important to keep in mind the fact that the supposed st would be a product of the butt-ton, hereafter to be known as the bt. Not only would it be considered a product of the bt, but would also be considered as a continuous aggregate of the bt, thereby reducing the constant mass/weight of the bt. One cannot simply calculate the invariable mass of the st due to the ever ephemeral nature of carbon based loads and their tendency to putresce constantly into less than the original. In addition to the perpetual consumption of the st, it is important to consider the residual surplus that does not decay; or decays at a slower rate, and to use that as a semi-constant to the matter. Therefore, with your slowly fluctuating constant, you have a mostly accurate equation to perpetuate the calculation of the shifting mass of the st.
On the other hand, you have the bt, from whence the st comes. When considering the weight of the bt, one must keep in mind that the aforementioned calculation, defining the technical weight of the st in its fluctuating state, is a by-product of the bt. Therefore, the bt will have defined periods in which it is technically ‘heavier’ or ‘denser’ than the st, but only at that specified time. Thereafter, the st will be the denser material, having gained a part of the bt’s weight, but, again, only until the bt gains and the st decays. One note to keep in mind is that the rate of decomposure would be less than the rate of gain for the bt; ie: the bt will have more periods of gaining and losing its weight than the st will have to lose its aggregate.
Therefore, it is hypothesized that the shit-ton will perpetually weigh more than the butt-ton due to its comparably consistent nature versus that of the transient mass of the butt-ton.
